CZ Predicts Shift Toward Real-World Asset Tokenization

Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao stated that the crypto industry’s next major focus is likely to center on real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, as capital and builders move toward blockchain-based representations of physical assets.

Speaking during a Binance Square AMA on February 12, Zhao suggested governments could tokenize commodities such as gold, rare earth minerals and water resources to finance infrastructure development.

He argued that certain natural resources, particularly water and strategic minerals, may ultimately represent greater economic value than traditional energy assets, positioning them as prime candidates for tokenized financing structures.

Prediction Markets Expected to Surge With Global Events

Zhao also highlighted prediction markets as a parallel growth sector, citing major global events such as the World Cup as catalysts for on-chain forecasting platforms.

Prediction markets allow participants to trade on event outcomes, effectively aggregating distributed information and sentiment. Crypto-native prediction platforms have historically experienced spikes in activity during elections, sports tournaments and macroeconomic events.

The combination of large-scale real-world events and expanding crypto user bases could drive renewed adoption of decentralized prediction systems.

Capital Rotation Toward Utility-Linked Crypto Sectors

CZ’s comments reflect a broader narrative shift within crypto markets from purely speculative token cycles toward sectors linked to real-world utility and information markets.

RWA tokenization connects blockchain infrastructure to traditional asset classes and sovereign financing, while prediction markets extend decentralized finance into probabilistic information aggregation.

Both sectors are often viewed as candidates for institutional and governmental adoption due to their direct economic relevance.

BTCUSA Takeaway

Crypto’s next growth phase may center on real-world assets and information markets.

CZ’s outlook suggests capital and builders are increasingly orienting toward tokenized commodities and prediction platforms, signaling a shift from purely digital assets toward blockchain systems anchored in physical resources and real-world events.
