Ethereum Developer Danny Ryan Joins Etherealize
Ethereum developer Danny Ryan has been named co-founder of Etherealize, a new organization aimed at educating institutional investors about Ethereum. Ryan’s appointment comes as part of a broader restructuring of the Ethereum Foundation amid investor uncertainty.
Ethereum Foundation Undergoes Major Overhaul
In January 2025, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced his sole authority over the Ethereum Foundation’s leadership. This move followed increasing criticism from the online community, with Buterin condemning the hostility directed at Ethereum Foundation personnel.
“If you ‘keep the pressure on,’ then you are creating an environment that is actively toxic to top talent,” Buterin stated in a January 21 post on X (formerly Twitter).
New Organizations to Support Ethereum’s Growth
As part of the administrative overhaul, the Ethereum Foundation has spun off multiple new organizations to manage different aspects of the ecosystem.
- Etherealize: Focused on educating institutional investors, such as Wall Street firms, hedge funds, and asset managers, while acting as Ethereum’s marketing arm.
- Silviculture Society: An advisory group consisting of individuals outside the Ethereum Foundation, tasked with upholding Ethereum’s core values, including decentralization, privacy, and security.
Currently, the Silviculture Society has 15 members, though it remains unclear if this number will expand in the future.
Investor Confidence in Ethereum Wanes
Ethereum has struggled to regain its all-time high of approximately $4,800, set in 2021. Investor confidence has declined, leading to growing pressure on Buterin to take Ethereum in a new direction. The launch of Etherealize and the restructuring of the Ethereum Foundation mark significant steps in shaping Ethereum’s future.
