Jump Crypto Makes Equity Investment in Tokenization Leader Securitize

Jump Crypto, the digital asset division of Jump Trading, has entered into a significant equity investment in Securitize, one of the pioneering issuers of tokens for real-world assets (RWAs). Financial terms were not released, but the strategic investment reflected Jump Crypto’s growing emphasis on blockchain-based financial infrastructure.

Pioneering Real-World Asset Tokenization

The investment will enable Securitize’s mission to deliver institutions broader access to tokenized assets such as U.S. Treasurys, private credit, and private equity. These tokenized products aim to increase liquidity, transparency, and operational efficiency in capital markets.

Michael Sonneshein, Securitize COO, emphasized the broader importance of the partnership, stating,

This investment is a sign that firms like Jump are believers in tokenization and its ability to transform capital markets and access to investment.

Tokenized Markets on the Rise

The tokenization ecosystem is rapidly gaining momentum. According to rwz.xyz, more than $22 billion of RWAs are currently tokenized on blockchain platforms. Moreover, the demand for tokenized Treasury products has grown by 800% in the past year, now standing at nearly $7 billion, as investors look for greater returns and more asset availability via blockchain technology.

Backed by Heavyweights: Jump Follows BlackRock

Jump’s investment in Securitize follows the company’s earlier major funding round—a $47 million raise led by BlackRock in 2023. BlackRock also established its BUIDL fund, a money market-style blockchain fund that is overseeing $2.86 billion of assets.

What’s Next: Launch of Converge Blockchain

Securitize is poised to introduce Converge, a new blockchain designed in partnership with Ethena Labs. Expected to arrive this quarter, Converge will provide a compliant, scalable platform for tokenized asset platforms and DeFi protocols. The initiative aims to introduce institutional capital into decentralized finance in a regulatory-friendly, secure format.
