Ripple Expands Institutional Reach with Metaco Acquisition
Ripple has announced its acquisition of Metaco, a Swiss-based provider of digital asset custody and tokenization technology. The deal represents Ripple’s strategic move into the growing institutional crypto custody market.
Following the announcement, the price of XRP rose by 5.5%, reaching $0.469 at press time. The acquisition marks Ripple’s continued expansion beyond payments and liquidity solutions into enterprise-grade digital asset management.
Strengthening Institutional Offerings
Metaco is known for providing secure, compliant custody and tokenization infrastructure to banks and financial institutions. Ripple stated that the acquisition allows it to expand its enterprise services, enabling clients to custody, issue, and settle any type of tokenized asset.
Metaco, in turn, gains access to Ripple’s global customer base, financial resources, and established infrastructure to accelerate its growth.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse described the acquisition as a pivotal step forward, noting that both companies share a focus on regulated, institutional-grade solutions for the digital asset ecosystem.
“Metaco is a proven leader in institutional digital asset custody with an exceptional executive bench and unmatched customer track record,” Garlinghouse said. “Through the strength of our balance sheet, Ripple will continue pressing our advantage in crypto infrastructure. Bringing on Metaco is monumental for our growing product suite and expanding global footprint.”
Crypto Custody Market Growth
The institutional crypto custody sector is rapidly expanding and is projected to reach a market capitalization of over $10 trillion by 2030. Research conducted by Ripple indicates that most global financial institutions plan to adopt crypto custody solutions within the next three years.
The acquisition positions Ripple to play a leading role in this space, combining its payment and liquidity expertise with Metaco’s advanced tokenization and custody technologies.
XRP Price Momentum
The news of the acquisition comes as XRP experiences a bullish rally, partly fueled by a U.S. district court ruling against the SEC’s motion to seal documents related to former official William Hinman’s speech.
Over the past week, XRP has gained more than 10.6%, signaling renewed investor confidence. The combination of legal momentum and strategic expansion has strengthened Ripple’s market position heading into the next phase of institutional crypto adoption.
Ripple’s acquisition of Metaco marks a significant milestone in its evolution from a payments-focused company to a broader blockchain infrastructure provider serving banks, enterprises, and financial institutions worldwide.
