Satoshi Holds More Than 1 Million BTC

The pseudonymous Bitcoin creator, Satoshi Nakamoto is reportedly in control of 1,096,354 BTC which is valued as more than 100 billion dollars as of February 4 according to blockchain analytics firm Arkham.

The on-chain intelligence firm identified Satoshi’s BTC holdings across 22,000 wallets, a revelation that adds fresh insight into the vast fortune controlled by Bitcoin’s elusive founder. Analysts have long speculated that Nakamoto managed thousands of BTC addresses before disappearing from public view.

These wallets were linked to Satoshi by Arkham by utilizing the “Patoshi Pattern,” which is a mining pattern used by the creator in the early days of the Bitcoin network. It also identified the only known active BTC address ever used by Satoshi for transactions.

Bitcoin’s Market Dominance Surges

From its inception in the year 2008, Bitcoin has grown to be among the world’s most valuable assets. With a market capitalization of $2 trillion, the dominance of BTC is more than 61% of the total cryptocurrency market, which is valued at over $3.3 trillion at the time of publishing.

This is because its influence has trickled into areas outside of the digital asset ecosystem. Large corporations, institutional investors, and governments are increasingly interested in holding BTC as an inflationary hedge.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly supported Bitcoin-friendly policy, making his support for institutional adoption well known. Meanwhile, 15 U.S. states are working on legislation to create BTC reserves with taxpayer funds and sovereign wealth. The national government is considering the creation of a strategic national Bitcoin reserve.

The adoption of Bitcoin by Wall Street has been accelerated with the introduction of spot Bitcoin ETFs. These investment vehicles, launched in the US markets at the beginning of 2024, have attracted more than $110 billion in investor funds, now more than Satoshi Nakamoto’s estimated Bitcoin fortune.
